Newsletter from Venezuela 2 - focus

Hello Dear friends,

Thank you so much for letting me share my experiences with you. I like when I sit and write about my week. This really helps me be focus!

We are in our second week and 4th day in Venezuela!!!! For me looks like a month or more!!!!! LOL!!!!!
This week we continued trying and trying adapted ourselves in our new challenge.
Today I was thinking about the other places we lived and I realized that Maturin is the one which we will need much more strength and patience.
Right now for me being here it's like a huge stair that we need to climb and the top right now looks unreachable, not because we lost faith but because is a huge stair with huge steps to take, so we need a lot of patience and strength.

This morning we found our church. I was so happy to go to church with my family, but when we got there I didn't feel I was at home yet. Church has this special power that makes you feel at home. But so far, I thought I was in another planet.
They tried really hard to welcome us, and they did a good job, but it's too early to say that I found my church; I really want to say that as soon as possible!

The good thing about it is Victoria and Oliver met a special lady who translated everything for them, and they loved it. Also they loved the idea about the radio station!!!! The church has a radio station and Saturday they have a kids program, they invited our kids to go! They are really excited, maybe next week they will go. This will be different and I like it!

This week we had our first "chicken experience" and it work very well, besides the time, of course, here if they say 11:00 they will come at 12 or 1 pm! So, now I know! I called Mr. Omar and he brought me 3 entire chickens for 15 dollars! The chicken tastes different but the kids liked it, so that's good.

This week rained a lot, there was flood in some places but not where we are, Vitor went to the field and he could see more about the city, and unfortunately wasn't anything new, just the same concept!

Last week the city had a circus, a nice one, people said. But the circus last for just 3 days because the government wanted lower the tickets prices and takes over the circus!!!!!!!!!!! So, the circus took off!!!!!!!!! It's unbelievable how the government manages things here.

We visited the school last Tuesday, have around 200 kids, have a good space, a new gym that needs to be finished before school starts and we met the teachers. They are American, and we really like them. The school is clean and well built, the classrooms have a good size and the library is big! We didn't have time to meet the principal, but we will try meet him this week again!

We are still in the hotel waiting to finish a few details at the house. Like I mentioned before.... if they say Monday ...means Thursday or Friday or next week, or next month! Who knows!?

Anyway, here we are, facing the things we have to, counting the days, counting until 10 or 1000, trying to discover new things, reinvent ourselves to be much more strong and focus in what it really matters in life. Maybe reinvent ourselves is our mission. In our last location, the wonderful TULSA, every day I had the same prayer, I always thanked God for us being there, for being extremely happy, and every time I went shopping I said in my heart:" thank you so much because I can buy everything we need"! And when I arrived at the grocery store I looked around  and I saw shine floors where my shoes squeaks and made clear sounds, bright lights lighting the way, colorful products, all kinds of cereal, all kinds of sugar, all kinds of chicken, anyway, all kinds of unimaginable food, products, you know, the American abundance. And now I have the same prayer too, even the floor is not shine or I can't hear the sound of my shoes rubbing against the floor, even with bad illumination, or no clean aisles, even without the abundance, I have this little prayer in my heart which is thank you God for helping us in the treasure hunt for food, thank you for being here and teaching us see the life with very open eyes to be able to find what really matters, thank you for remind us that happiness is about love, about knowing You, and not about a shine floor or bright lights! Even though, is still hard to adapt, but like I said before, we will learn, and take the big steps in that huge stair day by day and for sure with God's help we will reach the top and when this happens we will be stronger and happier!

So, if I could define my week in one word would be "focus" . I have to be focus in what is important - this helps a lot!

We miss all of you, we always remember about the good times we had with all of you and this brings us a smile!!!!!!!!!!
Hope everybody is doing great!
Have a wonderful week! See you in my next newsletter!

G, V, V & O.
