Newsletter from Venezuela 1
Hi Dear friends,
We arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday morning without any trouble! Our flight to Maturin was on time, people say that this flight is never on time! So far we already had been blessed!
The city is not nice, is not organized, is not clean, it's not safe. It's the opposite of America! I miss America! LOL!
People are not friendly, sometimes they scared me with their look!
We found a nice house close to the club, close to Vitor's work, he can walk to his work, also close to school.
The kids are excited about knowing the school. We found the house we wanted! We are very thankful!
The grocery store is not nice! There are limited items, we can't find everything we want, everything is very expensive too. Yesterday a friend gave me sugar because I couldn't find sugar at the grocery store!!!!!!!!! Also we didn't found eggs and oil and brown rice!! I remember about Ellen White ( a wonderful writer), about eat less, eat simple, eat natural! Maybe this is one of the reasons that we are here,..... to begin adapt ourselves for the future, for the difficult days. Before Venezuela we always thanked God about our food but now we thank God even more, with much more gratitude, because is a challenge buying food, and one more time we are facing the same situation we faced in Cuba, even with money we can't bring home food, one more time we are sure that without God we can't live! This lesson we learned in Cuba and now we are living the same situation but with much more faith. We know that God will provide like always did. Its a sad situation for the country but we have peace that God is with us and we are excited about what we have to learn here, how our faith will grow and how we can help people around here. I know that we have to learn something and I know this will be good, also I know that God had planned everything for us! I will not be afraid!
The weather is nice, it's rain seasons!!!!!!!!! We are in a nice hotel with kitchen and laundry! That's really good! In this morning we saw a beautiful peacock in our window. We though we were at Riverfield.... what a coincidence! Also we have a alligator, parrots, monkeys, gooses, deers, iguana,...., in the hotel garden!!!!!! I always asked God to be surround by nature!!!!!!!!!
We didn't went to school yet but I have low expectations about the school. Even is an American school, we are in Venezuela, so the rules sometimes are not followed it! But anyway, we will try our best to learn and share!
The service here is very cheap, everybody has a maid, gardener, etc.... if you want fresh chicken you call a number and if they have it they bring chicken to your home! That's funny! If you want fish you need to check at the street if the fish truck is there!!!!!!!! They sell a lot of things at streets, it's very crowded! It's a visual pollution!
So far these are the news from Maturin -a city that we will learn to love and respect!
We miss you all!!!! Hope everybody is enjoying the summer!
Next week I hope I can send excited news from Venezuela.
With much love,
Graziela, Vitor, Victoria, & Oliver.
