Lines everywhere!
Hi dear readers,
So long time without any news from the planet Venezuela! Sorry about that! I wasn't inspired, I was bored because nothing had changed so far, it's the same thing,.... daily!!!!
But today I was looking some pictures that I took last week, and those pics inspired me to get up and write the news!
I will begin talking about chickens! Last Sunday was "chicken day" at the grocery store next to our house, many, many people in line to buy chickens, the price was good, only 15.60 Bolivares/Kg about 60Cents of dollar/Kg in the using black market exchange rate! That's why the grocery store was too crowded. I didn't buy any chicken because I can't stand to be in line for hours to buy chicken or sugar or cooking oil or toilet paper, or flour! No, I'm against any line, LOL! I buy chicken once a week without standing in a line, I call and I ask to prepare 5 or 6 entire chickens, it's fresh, and cost 36Bolivares/Kg, and then I drive to the store and done! My good friend told me about this place and I am thankful for that, because it's almost impossible to find chicken at the regular grocery stores. The price is controlled by the government and its too cheap to sell, so the owners don't sell it.
Also last Sunday was "sugar day", I bought 4k of sugar that's the limited permitted per person, I was really blessed because there wasn't any line to buy sugar, it was early and I was in the right place at the right time! Just an interesting fact,.... in our last vacation trip we bought 5 bags full with food, included sugar and flour, and toilet paper! LOL Can you imagine yourself traveling with sugar, toilet paper and flour?
About toilet paper!!!!!!! There is no place selling toilet paper!! My daughter's friend said:"be a man use your hand" LOL! Well, we are not that desperate yet! When we knew it will be hard to find toilet paper because of the factory set on fire, we bought every toilet paper roll we could find, so far so good!
In resume we don't find everything we need. There is a lack of many things, and I am talking about basic food, it's hard to cook, but thanks God we always have our daily meal!
Tomorrow is election day. The whole planet of Venezuela is in alert, many people are hoping for a change many others not, they still want to be in line to buy the basics, they are doing this for 14 years and they want to continue with this kind of absurd life. Maybe they don't know about freedom, about rights and about dignity living. Or maybe they are scared about the changes, who knows!
But one thing I know, even with a new government, the changes need to start inside every one's mind, they need to become stronger, wiser, need to be conscious about what kind of Country they want to be, a Country which stands in line, which expects and waits for everything to come to them, which accepts the crumbs instead of the bread, or a Country which goes for it and does great things, which builds amazing future leaders, which gives opportunities to grow instead of giving a few coins at the end of the month.
The changing is a must in the planet Venezuela, let's hope that tomorrow it will be a new beginning for them. Let's hope they will go for it and reach what they need without any lines!
All the best,
G, V, V & O.
