Who turned the lights off?
Past month we had several hours without electricity. Imagine
yourself from morning to afternoon without lights, without a cold water to
drink, or even without water because no electricity for a long time means any
water.
It’s not easy to get used to this situation, the beginning
it’s so hard, I remember my first experience two years ago, I was reading and
then everything was turned off! I froze and I thought to myself: “wow, its
happening”!
Since that day until now I learned to spend my “ecofriendly”
hours with a good sense of humor. I listen to the silence, I disconnected from
the high tech world, I read more, and the amazing thing happens – I have time
to do nothing, or almost nothing! It’s a break from the rush hours! Of course
sometimes I don’t like it, when I am too busy to wait, or to do nothing,
sometimes I can’t afford the ecofriendly hours but still is not that horrible.
We always get used to everything!
Many houses have their own generator, we have 2! One
provides energy for our entire street which is 6 houses and our own generator
is a backup when the big one breaks. We
have a small one which is useful as a backup plan, but still both don’t work for
the air conditioner.
In my experience in the planet Venezuela having no
electricity is not the worst thing that can happens. Being without lights for
hours is not pleasant, but a Country which has no great ideas, a Country without
brilliant minds to governing, which can’t bright our world, it is a dark and
deep well. This is a kind of darkness
much more cruel than a dark room.
Let the darkness of selfish actions doesn’t turn off our
lights! Let’s shine all the good stuff, let’s shine our love, and let’s shine
all the worthy things in life!
With much love,
G, V, V & O.
